Iran hopes Afghanistan Peace Conference would yield fruits

IRNA - Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for West Asian affairs Rasoul Eslami hoped that the Afghanistan Peace Conference would achieve the intended outcomes.


Eslami who represented Iran in the event added, “We and other countries are trying to help Afghanistan and I hope the conference would achieve its objectives, given the viewpoints presenting in it.”

The conference on Afghanistan in Moscow called for the next meeting format in the near future, Eslami told RIA Novosti.

“Because all the participants, all participants were satisfied, it was agreed to hold the next meeting in the near future,” Eslami said, noting that during the conference the representatives of the High peace Council of Afghanistan and the Taliban was able to directly talk during the conference and at the dinner table.

Meeting of the “Moscow format” on Afghanistan took place on 9 November in a closed format in Moscow in «President-hotel». For the first time in an international meeting of this level was attended by the delegation of the political office of the Taliban in Doha.

Second International Afghanistan Peace Conference attended by regional and global players as well as friendly countries of Kabul was held in Moscow Friday.

Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan attended in the event. The US was also represented by an expert from its embassy in Moscow.
