Tasnim – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky weighed plans to broaden Tehran-Moscow political and economic relations.
In a meeting on the sidelines of the 11th conference of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Istanbul on Thursday, Larijani and Slutsky discussed closer economic and political interaction between Iran and Russia and implementation of the construction projects the two countries have signed in the past.
Elsewhere in the meeting, Larijani said Iran’s plan to host a 6-party meeting of the regional countries on the fight against terrorism demonstrates the country’s peacefulness.
For his part, Slutsky said Russia will send a high-ranking delegation to the Tehran meeting, which he said reveals Iran’s push for peace.
The next meeting of the parliament speakers of Iran, Russia, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey on the ways to combat the threat of terrorism and coordinate counterterrorism efforts will be held in Tehran in early 2019.
