IRNA – Iran’s parliamentary delegation held talks with parliamentary delegations from Azerbaijan Republic, Turkey, Pakistan, China and Japan on the sidelines of the Fifth Meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Youth.
Orumieh MP and a member of Iran’s parliamentary delegation, Seyyed Hadi Bahadori told IRNA on Saturday, “The summit is aimed at using Inter-Parliamentary Union’s capacities to help our country’s development and progress.”
The event was attended by 170 MPs from 44 countries, he said, noting that Sari MP, Mohammad Damadi, Broujen MP Khadijeh Rabiei and Assalouyeh MP Sakineh Almasi also were present in the meeting.
Iran’s parliamentary delegation called for coordination and cooperation among the countries to counter oppressive economic sanctions against the Iranian nation.
During the meetings with the Azeri and Turkish teams, in addition to discussing parliamentary affairs, they stressed promoting trade exchanges, Bahadori said.
Using parliamentary capacities for liberating kidnapped border guards was major topic discussed during the meeting between the Iranian and Pakistani parliamentary delegations, he said.
One of the topics discussed during the Fifth Meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Youth was protecting environment, he said, noting that he also delivered a lecture on the government’s programs to revive of the Orumieh Lake.
The Fifth Meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Youth opened on Friday in Baku and ended on Saturday.
