IRNA – Iranian Majlis (Parliament) speaker Ali Larijani in a message extended condolences over the death of the late Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi.-
In his message which was released early on Tuesday, Larijani voiced regret over the sad demise of Ayatollah Shahroudi.
After a long battle with disease, Ayatollah Shahroudi died on Monday evening at the age of 70, a relative of his and an official of the hospital confirmed the news.
Shahroudi was born in Najaf, Iraq, in 1948 and has served as a member of the Guardian Council as of 1994.
He was also judiciary chief and member of Experts Council. As of 2017, he was chairman of Expediency Council.
