IRNA – Iran talks with Taliban was aimed at maintaining peace to Afghanistan, Iranian defense minister said on Monday, adding that it was held with Afghan government coordination.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of Seminar of 'Peace, Stability and Sustainable Security in Light of Defense Cooperation, which was held in Supreme National Defense University, Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the negotiations were held, aiming to bring back peace and stability to Afghanistan.
Commenting on security in West Asia, he said the region has been dealing with insecurity since Western countries entered it.
Referring to the fact that Western Asia has experienced one of the bloodiest era over the past eight years, Hatami said people have faced many problems after West presence in the region.
He also pointed to different roles, played by Iran and the US in the region, saying Iran has helped its brothers sincerely and modestly.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Iranian defense minister referred to fighting Daesh terrorists as the latest measure taken by Iran to establish peace and stability in the region.
