IRNA – Acting counsel general of Iran's consulate in Mary, Turkmenistan called for strengthening of ties with the northern neighbor. 


Diplomacy is the best tool that should be used to develop Iran and Turkmenistan relations, Alireza Rajaei said in a local ceremony.

He noted that the change of governments should not affect Iran's diplomatic approach toward the neighboring countries, including Turkmenistan.

If Iran's Mashad in northeastern province of Khorasan-e Razavi and Turkmenistan's Mary sign sister cities agreement, the two region's relations will be fostered, the official said.

He referred to the history of Mashad and Mary and described the two regions' commonalities as opportunity for development of relations.
