FNA - Homeira Rigi, the 3rd female Iranian ambassador, met Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif before leaving for Brunei’s capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan.
Rigi, a Baluchi Sunni woman who was recently appointed as Iran’s new ambassador to Brunei, is replacing Abdolhamid Fekri in Iran’s diplomatic mission in the tiny country of the Southeastern Asia.
The first female Iranian ambassador was Marziyeh Afkham who was the spokesperson of foreign ministry before being dispatched to Malaysia.
The second female Iranian ambassador was Parvin Farshchi who went to Helsinki to head Iran’s diplomatic mission in Finland.
Rigi is the second Sunni ambassador of Iran as the first one was Saleh Adibi who is representing Tehran in the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi.
Born in 1975, Rigi has been an active social figure, and since April 2014 till very recently, she acted as the governor of Qasr-e Qand County in the Southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan.
