IRNA – Governorate general of southwestern province of Fars announced one day of public mourning following death of 18 people in the recent flood.
The Fars province's governorate general in a message released on its website declared Thursday as the day of public mourning in the flood-effected region.
Unprecedented heavy rains on Monday in the southern city of Shiraz killed at least 18 people and injured and displaced a large number of people.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message to Shiraz's Friday prayer leader Dejkam expressed his grievances over the disaster and wished the injured people a quick recovery.
The leader also called on all officials to mobilize all power and capabilities for relief operations.
The crisis has coincided with the two-week New Year holidays that are considered as the peak of trips in the Iranian provinces.
