IRNA – Iran's President Rouhani called on Interior Minister and governors of the western and southern provinces to use all equipments and facilities for saving the lives of people who are facing floods.
The call is made amid the unprecedented heavy rains in most of Iranian provinces.
Floods in a number of provinces have claimed the lives of at least 42 people and injured scores more. A number of urban and rural infrastructures, buildings and farms have been damaged due to severe flooding.
Iranian president in his call on Sunday night also urged officials to use the communication and technical capacities to issue timely warnings and raise awareness on heavy rains and the likelihood of flooding and spillovers, particularly in river banks and downstream of dams, as well as river floods.
The flash rains began in March 28 in northern provinces of Iran and continued on the following days in other provinces. At least 25 provinces were struggling with floods during the Nowruz holidays that mark the New Year in Iran.
Iranian Armed Forces have been engaged in relief operations upon a call by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
