IRNA - A female Iranian cyclist won bronze medal on Saturday for the first time in the history of female cycling in Iran.
Somayeh Yazdani finished third in Asian Road Cycling Championships that is being held in Uzbekistan. It’s the first time the Asian country is hosting the most prestigious cycling competition of the continent.
It’s the first time that an Iranian female cyclist won a medal in an international event. Mandana Dehqani, the other Iranian female cyclist came 11th in the competition.
The strongest athletes and teams fight for the title of the best cyclists on the continent, as well as for qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
An Uzbek national as well as a South Korean cyclist won gold and silver prizes.
