IRNA - Head of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Seyyed Ammar Hakim referred to Iraq good ties with Iran and the US, saying the country is able to mediate between them regarding recent tensions.
Speaking in a meeting with US Chargé d'Affaires in Iraq Joey Hood, Hakim expressed concerns over the recent tension between Iran and the US, saying it will threaten regional stability.
He also hailed remarks regarding both countries' interests for deescalating tensions, saying these remarks will be considered as start of achieving suitable solution and stopping wars and economic blockade in the region.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the latest developments in political condition of the Iraq and the region.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said: 'I am sure that as Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said no war will occur as neither are we seeking a war nor anyone else has the illusion of being able to fight with Iran in the region.'
Zarif argued that there are some people around US President Donald Trump who want to push him towards a war while he has officially said and has stressed recently that he is not seeking war.
He noted that what he described as “Team B” in his New York visit is a reality.
In the wake of US officials' provocative acts and threats in the region and namely in Iraq, many Iraqi political leaders warned against its consequences through statements and speeches.
