Tasnim – A senior assistant to the Iranian Parliament speaker reaffirmed Tehran’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, expressing hope for the settlement of the crisis in Idlib.
In a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud, Hossein Amir Abdollahian reaffirmed that Iran will keep providing full support for Syria.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any measure that leads to the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity, strengthening of its national sovereignty, and restoration of stability and calm to the region,” the Iranian official added.
He also expressed hope for the resolution of the crisis in Syria’s Idlib, which he blamed on the presence of terrorists, saying the northwestern province should come under control of the central government.
For his part, the Syrian envoy praised the Islamic Republic for turning crises into opportunities and for emerging victorious in political and international fields.
Amir Abdollahian and Mahmoud also discussed the latest regional and international developments, exchanged views on issues of mutual interest in the political and economic arenas, and stressed the need for parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.
