Tasnim – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif hailed the launch of intra-Afghan talks in Doha, expressing Tehran’s readiness to help Kabul fully restore peace to the crisis-hit country.
In a telephone conversation with caretaker of the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Tuesday, Zarif expressed satisfaction with the launch of intra-Afghan negotiations and voiced Iran’s readiness to provide whatever help necessary for the peace process in Afghanistan.
The two sides also discussed the issues relating to bilateral relations between Iran and Afghanistan in various fields within the context of the comprehensive document on strategic cooperation.
On Tuesday, Afghanistan and Taliban peace talk negotiators held their first direct session in the Qatari capital.
A small group of negotiators from both sides had met in previous days to try to discuss how the substantive negotiations would take place.
