Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said that the powerful missiles fired by the Palestinian resistance forces against Israel displayed the weakness of the regime’s air defense system called ‘Iron Dome’.
“The spider webs that the Zionists claimed to be iron collapsed with the Palestinian resistance’s missiles,” Shamkhani wrote on his twitter page on Wednesday.
"The Palestinian revolutionary youth have extended the (battle) field to the heart of the occupied territories by changing the security equations," he added.
Shamkhani also cited a verse from holy Quran which says that indeed the house of spider is the most fragile house.
?In Israel, the nonstop barrages of rocket fire by the Palestinian resistance groups left long streaks of white smoke in their wake. Air-raid sirens wailed throughout the day, sending panicked residents scurrying for cover.
At least five people in Israel have also been killed.
The rocket fire came after Hamas, which rules Gaza, issued an ultimatum demanding Israel stand down its security forces from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem after days of violence against Palestinians.
Israeli police stormed the compound on Monday for a third consecutive day, firing rubber-coated steel rounds, stun grenades and tear gas at Palestinian worshippers inside the mosque in the final days of the holy month of Ramadan.
More than 700 Palestinians were hurt in Jerusalem and across the occupied West Bank in recent days.
