In his first formal meeting as the new president of Iran, Ebrahim Raeisi received reports about plans to tackle the fifth wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the country and the vaccination program.
One day after being endorsed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution as the 8th president of Iran, Raeisi on Wednesday held his first official meeting with the directors of the specialized committees of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters.
The participants provided the new president with reports about the implementation of the decisions adopted by the headquarters to contain the fifth wave of the pandemic, as well as the regulations on the religious rituals marking the anniversary of martyrdom of the third Shiite Imam.
The headquarters’ officials also briefed the incoming president on the necessary conditions to reopen universities and schools in autumn and also the process of carrying out a national document on COVID vaccination.
Raeisi said on Tuesday that he has formulated an immediate plan to bring about a major change and settle the country’s problems in the short term.
