Iran hopes Oman’s constructive efforts reinforce peace in region

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has expressed hope that Oman’s constructive efforts could result in consolidation of peace in the region.






Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Sultan bin Mohammed al-Numani, the Minister of the Royal Office in the Sultanate of Oman, in Muscat on Wednesday.

He said that exchanging delegations between Iran and Oman will pave the ground for making relations more active and for taking advantage of bilateral capacities in line with promoting cooperation.

Referring to Oman's role in facilitating a rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia and its efforts to facilitate regional and international negotiations, he appreciated Oman's efforts in facilitating regional dialogues.

Iran welcomes the normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia in the framework of the 13th government's neighborhood policy and respects the principle of good neighborliness, he stated.

He also termed Iran’s unique geopolitical position as the best opportunity for transit through Iran.

Meanwhile, Mohammed al-Numani emphasized development of cooperation with Iran.

He described the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia has brought peace to the region.

In the meantime, Oman’s energy minister Salim al-Aufi has had announced a long-stalled project to lay an undersea pipeline to carry Iranian gas to Oman is finally progressing.
