Ali Akbar Ahmadian was appointed as the new secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) on Monday.
In a decree on, President Ebrahim Raisi appointed Ahmadian as the new SNSC secretary, replacing Ali Shamkhani who had been appointed to the post by former president Hassan Rouhani in 2013.
In his decree, president RPreisdentaisi has appreciated Ali Shamkhani for his services.
Ahmadian previously served as the head of the Strategic Center of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
He has a Ph.D. in strategic management from the Supreme National Defense University and is known as one of the most respected figures in the country in matters of national security, according to Nour News, which is affiliated with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
He is also a member of Iran's Expediency Council via a decree by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
He was one of the main architects of the new and innovative naval force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Sometime later, given his record, he was appointed as the commander of the IRGC's naval force by the commander-in-chief.
Ahmadian is a strategist who rose through the ranks of the IRGC to become of the most capable commanders of this force.
