Iran brings ‘huge’ case against 107 MKO terrorists

13 Aug 2023 - 22:44

The Iran Project - Iran's Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights, Kazem Gharibabadi, has announced that Iran has filed a "huge" case against over a hundred members of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO), a terrorist cult responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Iranian citizens.

According to Gharibabadi, the case against 107 high-profile MKO members has been referred to an Iranian court, and a special branch has been established to handle the matter. The defendants have been notified via email, and the court will soon commence proceedings in accordance with criminal procedure.

Gharibabadi expressed concern over the fact that MKO members are freely operating in some Western countries despite their involvement in the murder of innocent Iranians. He acknowledged that some countries have independently recognized the MKO as a terrorist group and have implemented restrictions on its members. Gharibabadi called for further action, urging these countries to either expel or prosecute the MKO terrorists.

The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials since the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Out of the approximately 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks over the past four decades, around 12,000 have been victims of MKO's acts of terror.

In June, Albanian police entered the MKO camp near Tirana due to its involvement in "terror and cyberattacks" against foreign institutions. The police seized 150 computer devices linked to terrorist activities. Clashes occurred during the operation, resulting in one fatality and several injuries. Subsequently, security forces were deployed at the camp's entrance to monitor vehicles leaving the site.
