Tehran says silence of Intl bodies on Shiraz attack fuels terror acts

The Iran Project - Iran has criticized international organizations and human rights advocates for their silence following a deadly terrorist attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz.

The terrorist attack which occurred on Sunday, claimed by the Daesh terrorist group, resulted in two death and eight injuries.

Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi accused international organizations and the so-called human rights advocates of promoting terrorism through their silence.

He also blamed Iran's "avowed enemies" for the attack and vowed severe punishment for those involved.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also condemned the attack and called on the Judiciary to swiftly punish the perpetrators.

Moreover, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani stated that the terrorists were seeking revenge for the "heavy blows" dealt by Iran in the past.

The provincial head of the Justice Ministry announced that The main element linked to an armed terrorist attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Iran’s southern city of Shiraz has Tajik nationality.

Kazem Mousavi stated on Monday that the Intelligence Ministry forces have so far arrested 10 people in connection with the Sunday evening fatal terrorist attack on the religious site in Shiraz, saying all of the suspects were of foreign nationalities.

The Shah Cheragh holy shrine came under a similar terrorist attack last year in October, when an armed assailant opened fire on people inside the shrine, killing 13 people, including women and children, and injured dozens more before he was shot and injured by security force and later succumbed to his injuries.
