25 Aug 2023 - 12:16

The Iran Project - Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi expressed his desire for relations with African countries based on mutual respect and benefit, in contrast to Western states that he claims only seek to exploit Africa's natural resources and wealth.

Raisi made these comments during a meeting with Senegalese President Macky Sall at the 15th meeting of the BRICS group in Johannesburg, South Africa. He emphasized Iran's willingness to share its knowledge and expertise in technology, engineering, science, and industry with Senegal.

President Sall praised the invitation of Iran to join the BRICS group, stating that Iran's presence would help balance the international system and create a multipolar world. He criticized Western countries for their violations of human rights and accused them of pressuring independent nations under the guise of defending human rights. Sall highlighted the historical slavery and colonial practices of Western countries and their continued policies in different forms.

President Raisi also expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate with Tanzania in various fields such as technology, engineering, construction, agriculture, and industry. During a meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Raisi emphasized the need to activate joint economic cooperation and improve economic and cultural relations between the two countries. President Hassan welcomed the activation of the joint economic commission and called for increased trade ties between Iran and Tanzania.

President Raisi also held separate talks with the presidents of India, Bangladesh, and Brazil during his visit to South Africa before returning to Tehran.
