The Iran Project - After a six-year break, Iran and China recently held their eighth joint consular commission meeting in Beijing.
The meeting, co-chaired by officials from both countries, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and his Chinese counterpart, in the Chinese capital of Beijing on Friday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed important consular issues, including issues such as visa facilitation for businessmen, university students and tourists.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding the implementation of bilateral judicial agreements on convicts' transfer and criminals' extradition, as well as expanding judicial cooperation.
The meeting also touched upon topics such as banking cooperation, increasing interaction and academic exchange, enhancing police cooperation, and promoting scientific and academic exchanges between Iran and China.
Earlier in August, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi had emphasized the importance of strengthening their interaction in accordance with the strategic 25-year partnership agreement between the two nations.
Iran and China have finalized 16 understandings between the two countries to implement their 25-year roadmap for strategic partnership, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ehsan Khandozi said last year.
“Executive measures in the field of oil and gas, banking, investment and strategic projects were put on the agenda to be approved in the next meeting of the presidents of the two countries in the new future.”
