Head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce says by completing the transportation infrastructure in the trade of the two countries, the goals of the preferential trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union and membership in the BRICS group will be realized.

According to The Iran Project, Hadi Tizhoush Taban made the comments on the eve of President Raisi visit to Russia.

According to published statistics, the total value of trade between Iran and Russia in 2022 increased by nearly four percent compared to 2021, reaching its highest level in the last five years, he stated.

The total trade figure of these two countries in the mentioned year was close to 2 billion 300 million dollars, of which 68 percent, equivalent to 1 billion 600 million dollars, belonged to the value of Iran's imports from Russia, the official added.

He further noted that the rest, equivalent to 751 million dollars, was allocated to Iran's exports to this country.

In the first 6 months of the current year, the total trade value between Iran and Russia was about one billion and 400 million dollars (440 million dollars of exports and 925 million dollars of imports), he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he said, “The connection of the Rasht railway to the Caspian port will definitely have a significant impact on the development of Iran's trade relations with the Russian Federation and the volume of goods transit.”

In general, with the considered vision for the development of trade relations between the two countries, any infrastructure plan that is completed can provide the necessary platform for the realization of the visions, Tizhoush Taban concluded.
