Iran’s Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian on his visit to The Roghun hydroelectric power plant and dam in Tajikistan has said that Tehran is keen to boost trade ties with Dushanbe.
According to The Iran Project,According to Iran's Ministry of Energy website, Mehrabian said that Iranian administration will support the five Iranian contractors involved in the construction of Rogun hydroelectric power plant in Tajikistan.
Some sections of this project are being constructed by the Iranian contractors.
He added that increasing the trade exchanges with the regional countries, especially Tajikistan, is a main goal of the Iranian government.
Iran’s minister of energy said that two units of this power plant have so far been operational and it is supposed that its power generation will increase to a total of 3,600 megawatts.
The Rogun hydroelectric power plant and dam is situated 110 km from Dushanbe, and is one of the planned hydroelectric power plants of Vakhsh Cascade.
Mehrabian is in Dushanbe to attend the closing ceremony of Iran, Tajikistan 16th intergovernmental committee session.
The expansion of cooperation in different trade, financial, energy, transportation, industry, technical and engineering, health, investment, and tourism will be on the agenda of the committee that kicked off on December 26.
The closing ceremony of the event is to be held with the participation of Iran’s Mehrabian and Tajikistan Minister of Energy and Water Resources Juma Daler.
