The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that four Iranian military advisers have been assassinated in an Israeli attack on Syria's Damascus.
According to The Iran Project, Issuing a statement on Saturday, IRGC confirmed that the advisors were "martyred" along with several Syrian forces in the attack in Damascus.
“Once again, the barbaric and criminal Zionist regime launched an aggression on the city of Damascus, the capital of Syria, and several Syrian forces and four military advisers of the Islamic Republic of Iran were martyred during the air raid by the usurper regime’s fighter jets,” the statement reads.
Al-Mayadin and some Syrian media had already said that an Israeli strike had targeted a building in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus, saying sounds of explosions heard across the Syrian capital.
Accordingly, he intelligence commander of the IRGC's Quds Force in Syria, Yousef Omidzadeh aka Haj Sadegh, and his assistant as well as three others were killed in the Israeli airstrike.
Iran's SNN reported that the targeted building in Damascus belongs to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iran maintains an advisory mission in Syria at the request of Damascus to help the war-hit Arab country vanquish the foreign-backed militants.
