The Iranian embassy in London has warned the group of seven developed countries, known as G7, against taking “unconstructive decisions” on Iran, as the group meets for talks on major world issues including escalating tensions in West Asia.
According to The Iran Project,The embassy issued a statement on Wednesday as foreign ministers from the US, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan began three days of talks on the Italian island of Capri.
The embassy issued the statement amid reports that G7 countries are considering to impose sanctions on Iran over its weekend drone and missile attack against the Israeli regime in response to its repeated acts of aggression including an April 1 airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
“Undoubtedly, taking unconstructive decisions regarding Iran, and irresponsible accompanying of Western countries with the Israeli regime over its measures that violate international law will encourage the regime to continue its evil acts and adventurism, and will consequently escalate tensions in the region and the world”, the Iranian embassy said.
The embassy referred to Israel’s actions causing harm to Iranian interests over the past years, from acts of sabotage at Iranian nuclear facilities to assassinating its nuclear scientists and the most recent one attacking the consulate building in Damascus, Syria.
The embassy explained that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Syria was in clear violation of international law and conventions, and that Iran responded to the Israeli aggression after the UN Security Council failed to condemn and punish the regime due to opposition from the US, Britian and France.
The Iranian diplomatic mission in London said that the Islamic Republic’s weekend attack at the Israeli regime was carried out within the framework of legitimate defense enshrined in the UN Charter’s Article 51, adding that Iran will use all its capacities within international regulations and laws in the face of new possible evil acts by the regime.
