Iran's national artistic gymnast Mehdi Olfati has sealed the first-ever Olympic berth for the country as announced by the World Federation.
According to The Iran Project,Olfati has qualified for the Paris Olympics by placing second in the ranking of the Olympic quota competition, according to the website of the World Gymnastics Federation.
Iran's national gymnast secured his participation in the Paris Olympics with 62 points and will be the only Iranian gymnast competing in the Games.
Earlier on September 29, 2023, Mehdi Olfati finished second in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and won the medal which was the first of its kind in Iranian gymnastics history.
A total of 318 gymnasts will participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics, with 192 in artistic gymnastics, 94 in rhythmic gymnastics, and 32 in trampoline gymnastics.
The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
