TEHRAN, July. 31 (MNA) � Celebrated Iranian actor Jamshid Mashayekhi has been honored by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with the First Grade Order of Art and Culture.
�In appreciation of your merit and the efforts you have made in the elevation of the nation�s art and your long service to the Islamic Republic of Iran, you are hereby honored with the First Grade Order of Art and Culture,� Ahmadinejad wrote in a mandate published by the Presidential Office on Monday.

Mashayekhi, 79, has played in over 70 movies and popular TV series.

He made his debut in �Brick and Mirror� directed by Ebrahim Golsestan (1965). He also starred in Dariush Mehrjuii�s acclaimed film �The Cow� (1969) and �Qaisar� by Masud Kimiaee (1969).

He also played memorable roles in the popular TV series �Kamalolmolk� (1983) and �Hezar Dastan� (1987) directed by Ali Hatami.
