Iran's top human rights official has strongly condemned a decision by a French court to deport Iranian national Bashir Biazar as illegal and a violation of his human rights.
According to The Iran Project, in a post on X on Monday, Kazem Gharibabadi, secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights, also questioned the legality of Biazar's continued detention by French authorities even though he is not legally banned to exit the country.
"Given that Bashir Biazar's return ticket is ready and there is no legal ban on his departure, why is France continuing the arbitrary detention of this Iranian citizen? We strongly condemn this course of action," he said.
Biazar, an Iranian music
maestro and filmmaker, has been in prison for two weeks following his arbitrary arrest for pro-Palestinian activism.
