Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has met with Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi who is on an official visit to Tehran amid increased tensions in the West Asian region.
According to The Iran Project, the two diplomats held talks in the capital Tehran on Sunday to discuss the recent spike in tensions in the region as well as bilateral relations.
Safadi, who arrived in Tehran earlier on Sunday, is also scheduled to meet and exchange views with other Iranian officials on regional and international issues during his trip.
The Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement earlier in the day that Safadi will also deliver a message from King Abdullah II to the Iranian president on “the situation in the region and bilateral relations.”
The Jordanian foreign minister’s rare visit comes a day after he held two phone calls with his Iranian and Egyptian counterparts about the consequences of the Israeli regime’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
