Taekwondo star Nahid Kiani, becomes Olympic runner-up, "Trailblazing Daughter" in Iran's history

Nahid Kiani, the Iranian taekwondo athlete in the -57 kg weight category, won a silver medal in the taekwondo competitions at the Paris Olympics, bringing joy to the Iranian delegation and the people of Iran as the "trailblazing daughter" of the nation.


According to The Iran Project, on Thursday night, Kiani faced Yu-jin Kim from South Korea in the final match but was unable to secure the gold. However, the silver medal she won earned her the title of Iran’s trailblazing daughter.

Before reaching the final, Kiani defeated Kimia Alizadeh from Bulgaria and faced Chaima Toumi, ranked 10th in the world from Tunisia, in the quarter-finals, where she won a hard-fought match.

In the semi-finals, Iran’s trailblazing taekwondo athlete defeated Laetitia Aoun from Lebanon with a score of 13-3.

Meanwhile, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, congratulated Nahid Kiani for winning the best medal in the history of Iranian women at the Olympics.

President Pezeshkian wrote on his personal social media page: "My dear daughter Nahid Kiani, your efforts in the Olympics are praiseworthy. You have written a new chapter in the history of women's sports in Iran. I congratulate you and all the people of Iran on winning the valuable Olympic silver."
