Figures by Iran’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) show mobile internet penetration rate in the country rose by 6.31% in the two years to late March.
According to The Iran Project, CRA data published on Tuesday showed that broadband mobile internet penetration rate in Iran had reached 132.01% in the quarter to March 19.
The figures showed that high speed mobile internet had been available to more than 112 million customers in Iran in the quarter to late March, up 7.1% from figures reported in the same quarter in March 2022.
Access to fixed broadband also rose by 0.77% to 13.05% over the two years to late March, said the CRA.
It said mobile penetration rate had reached an all-time high of 179.02% last winter, up from 175.02% reported in winter of 2022.
The number of fifth-generation internet (5G) mast sites in Iran increased to a total of 1,313 in the three months to late March, the data showed.
