Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi congratulated Joseph Aoun on his election as the president of Lebanon, saying Tehran supports Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.

According to The Iran Project, “Congratulations to Joseph Aoun and the dear Lebanese people,” the Iranian foreign minister said in a post on his X account on Friday.

“Iran supports a stable, secure and independent Lebanon where all Lebanese people can live without foreign occupation and threats,” he added.

“Just as always, we cooperate with any government that represents the aspirations of the Lebanese people, guarantees their welfare and safeguards Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,” Araghchi said.
