TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian condemned Friday bomb explosions in the Lebanese city of Tripoli, and called on the Lebanese people and elites to be aware of extremists' threats and the plots hatched by the enemies of Lebanon to destabilize the Muslim state.


Amir Abdollahian called on Lebanese religious and political leaders to close ranks and form a united front against Takfiri terrorists.

“The terrorist explosions in Lebanon’s Tripoli, which coincide with the strikes launched by the Zionist regime of Israel on that country, indicate coordination between Takfiri militants and the Zionists,” the senior Iranian diplomat said on Friday.

Two explosions rocked the Northern city of Tripoli on Friday, leaving over 42 dead and 500 wounded.

The first blast took place near the Taqwa Mosque, while the other took place near the Salam Mosque.

Civil Defense teams and ambulances flocked to the scene as a number of people were reportedly wounded, the Naharnet reported.

Tens of people were killed and wounded in the attacks, Al-Mayadeen TV reported.

The blasts took place as worshipers were exiting the mosques following weekly Friday prayers.

One of the explosions took place near caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati's residence, but he was not in the city at the time.

Meantime, the Israeli fighter jets raided Lebanon's territory near Na'ameh, between Beirut and Sidon, in the early hours of Friday.
