Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA – Iran has transited over 5.425 million tons of commodities during the first five months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2013), marking a 10-percent growth compared to the corresponding period last year, it was announced here on Sunday.
Shahriar Afandizadeh, Head of Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization said that some 95 percent of the goods were transited via roads and the rest via railroads.
He lauded appropriate measures taken for improvement of transportation infrastructures and reinforcement of transit corridors.
The oil commodities accounted for 2.56 million tons of the total volume of transited commodities, he said, adding that construction materials and home appliances were among the transited non-oil goods.
