TEHRAN (FNA)- A prominent Iranian lawmaker lashed out at the US war rhetoric against Syria, and underlined that Washington is plotting to attack other Muslim countries after launching a military strike on Damascus.
“The US and the West will attack other Muslim countries after striking Syria, hence defending Syria is a general duty of all Muslims,” Vice-Chairman of the parliament’s Cultural Commission Bijan Nobaveh Vatan told FNA on Saturday.
“Today the issue of attack against Syria does not just mean a military intervention in one country, rather the important issue is that they intend to attack a Muslim country to break the resistance of Muslims against the US and the Zionist regime and if we think that the Syrian crisis is only related to one country, we are badly mistaken,” he said.
While US President Barack Obama has accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons against its civilians in the Damascus suburb of al-Ghouta, he has provided no evidence whatsoever to the UN Security Council to prove his claim.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on President Obama to provide the UN Security Council with documents and evidence showing that the Syrian army has used chemical weapons against the civilians in Damascus.
Putin has underlined that no evidence has been presented on the use of chemical weapons by the government of Syria, adding that Russia does not believe that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons since they have been advancing in the war and did not need to do it.
