25 Sep 2013 - 13:34

Acclaimed Iranian actress Mahtab Keramati has been honored at the 2013 edition of Batumi International Art House Film Festival (BIAFF) in Georgia.
Keramati received the Best Actress Award for her role in Vahid Mousaian’s latest film, The Fourth Child.

The Fourth Child contended for award at the Competition section of the eighth edition of Batumi festival.

This year’s winners were announced during a closing ceremony that was held on September 22, 2013.

The Fourth Child has hit a number of movie theaters in African continent so far.

Produced by Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation (FCF), the movie cinematically represents misery of famine and war in Somalia.

The film chronicles the story of an Iranian nurse who leaves her country to aid the famine-stricken people and war-torn country, but shortly thereafter she decided to begin a career in photography to raise awareness about the human disaster in this part of the world.

Some parts of the film were shot in the Sahara Desert in northern Africa, portraying the Battle of Mogadishu (1993) and depicting the scenes related to the violence against women and children.

Some local actors star in Mousaian’s screen production along with the Iranian cast and crew.

The actress Keramati is also a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations in Iran.

Mousaian’s previous film Golchehreh also won the Grand Prix award of Batumi International Film Festival in 2011.

Established in 2006, the Batumi International Art House Film Festival screens feature-length films, shorts and documentaries from around the globe.

The eighth Batumi film festival took place from September 15 to 22, 2013.
