TEHRAN, Sep. 25 (MNA) – An informed Iranian official in New York has denied that the US had requested a meeting with Hassan Rouhani.
In an interview with Mehr News correspondent and in answer to a question about the US request for a meeting with Rouhani, this official said that news was not true. Some media claimed that US officials had officially requested a meeting for Barack Obama, the US president, with Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s president.
The White House and the UN speaker had deemed a probable meeting between the two presidents. Marzieh Afkham, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman told reporters at the press conference yesterday that no arrangements had been made for a meeting between Rouhani and Obama, neither between John Kerry and Zarif.
