Tehran, Sept 28, IRNA – Former International Atomic Energy Agency Secretary-General, Mohamed ElBaradei has said negotiations between Iran and the US is the key to restoration of security and stability to the Middle East, Egyptian media reported.
ElBaradei, also a former Egyptian vice-president for foreign affairs, said in his Twitter page that tension between Tehran and Washington is the cause of conflict in the region and the two countries should not miss the opportunity to hold talks.
Iranian President Hassan Rohani and his US counterpart Barack Obama talked over phone Friday night.
In their phone conversation, the two sides underlined political resolve to settle the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program as soon as possible and pave the way for bilateral cooperation over regional issues.
The two presidents tasked their foreign ministers with making preparations for required cooperation at the earliest.
