TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (MNA) – Only a day after warnings by Saudi officials on the ban on women’s driving, 15 women drivers have been fined.
Mehr News quoted Saudi media reporting that Sunday October 27, five police fined 15 women drivers. On October 4 Mansour al-Turki, Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry spokesman warned that women were not permitted to drive, and that women drivers and those who drive in support of them or rally on the street, “will be dealt with. A group of few people could not impose their will on others, since majority of social network clients understand Saudi officials’ decision about banning women’s driving.”
In Saudi Arabia, women are deprived of many of their rights including the right to vote and to drive.
