Iran Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Iranian Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi says 25 Iranian nationals imprisoned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been released.
Qashqavi said on Saturday that 25 inmates held in UAE prisons were granted clemency on the occasion of Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice).
The Iranian official said the release of Iranian nationals was secured through the efforts of the Islamic Republic’s Foreign Ministry, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in the Dubai and the cooperation of UAE officials.
Millions of Muslims around the world celebrate the Eid al-Adha. The event commemorates Prophet Abraham (PBUH)’s submission to divine order to sacrifice his son, Ismail (PBUH). However, God provided Abraham (PBUH) with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
