TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A three-member Iranian parliamentary delegation will leave for Lebanon on Wednesday to study the dimensions of last week’s terrorist attack in front of the Iranian embassy in Beirut, a lawmaker said on Tuesday.
“Seeing the site of the deadly attack, visiting those injured  in the blasts and meetings with Lebanese security and intelligence officials would be the most important plans on the agenda of this parliamentary delegation,” Evaz Heidarpour, member of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, who will travel to Beirut with the team told the Tasnim News Agency.

He said that the Iranian delegation might also have meetings with their Lebanese parliamentary counterparts, but the matter has not been finalized yet.

Deputy Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour will lead the delegation, whose third member is Seyed Hoseein Naqavi Hosseini.

Last Tuesday, twin explosions occurred around Iran's embassy in Beirut, killing at least 23 people and injuring some 150 others. Iranian cultural attaché was among the dead.

The Lebanese media said the blasts took place two minutes apart, with one man on foot detonating an explosive vest, and the second explosion caused by a car bomb. The security official confirmed one of the blasts was a suspected car bomb.

The Iranian embassy is located on a residential street, with apartment blocks and shops nearby.
