Tourism attraction week of Iranian ancient city kicks off in India

New Delhi, Dec 18, IRNA – Tourism attraction week of the Iranian city of Isfahan kicked off Wednesday in Hyderabad, capital city of the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. 

The week-long exhibition, around Charminar, will showcase the commonalities, such as historical, heritage, culture and Islamic architecture, between Hyderabad and Isfahan city.


Based on the Historical documents the city of Hyderabad was built by Mir Mohammad Momeen Astarabadi , the pPrime minister of the Qutub Shahi Dynasty, who were the rulers in south India at the same time of the Safavid era in Isfahan, and due to the good relations between the Safavid Kings and the Qutub Shahi’s, an Iranian Islamic architecture entered this part of India and as the historians from Hyderabad acknowledge the city was named as New Isfahan.

Charminar is the most prominent relic of the city of Hyderabad which is said to have been built on the lines of Maidan e Naghsh Jahan of Isfahan city and the Charkaman’s were served as each of the gates for entry to Charminar.

Speaking ng to IRNA, the Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran at Hyderabad, regarding the tourism attraction week of Isfahan in Hyderabad said the week would be celebrated in Hyderabad in co-operation with the Isfahan’s municipal corporation.

Hassan Nourian further said that photo exhibition of historical monuments and places of tourist attractions and Iranian fames, urban development of Isfahan city as the culture and civilization capital of the of Islamic Iran will be put in exhibition.

The city of Hyderabad with a population of more then seven million is the capital of Andhra Pradesh State and approximately 45 percent of its population are Muslims.

The Andhra Pradesh State with an approximate population of 80 Million people and Hyderabad as its capital is considered as one of the biggest and important states of India having lots of commonalities with Iran such as historical , heritage, culture and the Islamic architecture.
