Tehran, Jan 4, IRNA – Head of Presidential Office Mohammad Nahavandian said Saturday that the call of opposing extremism must be heard by the entire world from the Islamic Iran.

Addressing a local gathering here, he said that President Hassan Rouhani?s initiative for a global fight against extremism and violence has been spread in the whole world in the shortest possible time.


On December 18, 2013, President Rouhani’s World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) proposal was overwhelmingly ratified at the UN General Assembly with 190 votes.

The WAVE Act calls on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.

The Iranian President made the proposal in an address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25, 2013.

The WAVE Act urges UN member states to take “appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace and achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character.”

Criticizing certain states for distorting Iran?s image worldwide, Nahavandian said adoption of the WAVE Act by the UN member states has welcomed Iran?s delicate call.

It was the will of God that the flag of fighting violence is carried by the Islamic Iran, Nahavandian said adding, ?this will reverse a vicious trend which has been started since 9/11.?

Criticizing the present anti-Islam propaganda which is fanned by certain countries, he said time is ripe now for Islam?s call of moderation to be heard by the world nations so that the current distorted image of Islam would be corrected.
