Iranian researcher produces nanoparticles from wool, feather

5 Jan 2014 - 15:21

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian researchers at prestigious Amir Kabir University have designed and manufactured nanoparticles from natural protein fiber.
"Natural protein tissues including feather and wool is compatible with the environment and is biodegradable," Niloufar Eslahi told ISNA.

She added the tissues can be applied in different medical, agricultural, sanitation, cosmetics and textile industries.

The method proves considerably more efficient comparing to other methods because of its low energy consumption and environmental contamination. Its enzyme acts as a catalyst and can speed up the pace of reaction under mild circumstances.

The advantage of nanoparticle is that they can protect the main characteristics of the fiber without destroying their infrastructure.
