Tehran, Jan 8, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw in Tehran on Tuesday stressed the importance of mutual trust between Iran and the western countries.

The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the wrong assumption of some western countries with regard to effectiveness of the sanctions, and said, ?The Islamic Republic of Iran has proven that it will not bow to pressure.?
Zarif said that reaching a mutual understanding on Iran?s nuclear issue is very easy, adding, ?In view of the fact that Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has explicitly declared his stance with regard to prohibition of nuclear weapons, his views are important from a religious point of view and on the other side it has a strategic approach which is the nuclear weapons have no place in Iran?s defense doctrine.?
Straw and other members of Britain-Iran Friendship Parliamentary Group expressed their viewpoints on bilateral ties, nuclear issue, regional developments and the Islamic Republic of Iran?s relations with the European Union.
