TEHRAN (ISNA)- A member of executive committee of Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) committee announced that the country plans to host the 9th IPU summit mid February.
"The IPU summit is held once annually. This year it is hosted by Iran. The meeting was supposed to be hosted by African countries in Burkina Faso which was refused by the country. Accordingly, Iran has expressed its readiness for the summit and the proposal was accepted by the IPU Secretariat," Kazem Jalali said.
He added the five-day summit opens on February 14.
The summit is to be held in different levels, one day for the IPU executive committee, two days for technical committees and two days for the summit.
The invitations have been sent for Islamic countries.
