Berlin, March 6, IRNA - The head of the German parliamentary tourism committee, Heike Brehmer announced plans to visit Iran next year, according to IRNA.
Meeting with Iran?s Deputy Head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization for tourism affairs Morteza Rahmani and Iran?s Ambassador to Germany Ali Reza Sheikh Attar at Iran?s booth at the 48th Berlin Tourist Fair (ITB), Brehmer stressed she was looking forward to her trip.
I have never been to Iran before, therefore time has come to visit the country, she reiterated.
Brehmer said her trip was aimed at getting to know Iran and its people and promoting people to people ties.
The Christian Democratic lawmaker added she was also intrigued by the cultural and natural beauties of Iran.
Brehmer toured also the Iranian stand and talked to Iranian tourist operators who are highlighting their country?s tourist attractions at the Berlin fair, which was officially opened Tuesday evening.
Numerous Iranian tourism companies are attending the five-day event which offers a complete overview of all products linked to either holiday or business travel.
A total of 10,147 travel groups from 189 nations have registered to take part at the world?s biggest travel trade fair, spread across 27 halls.
Among the themes of this year?s ITB are environmental, adventurous and youth as well associally responsible tourism along with city travel.
Mexico has been selected as the travel fair?s partner country for this year.
The high-profile exhibition is expected to host around 170,000 guests, among them 100,000 travel and tourism experts.
