TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Sepahan football team crushed Al Sadd of Qatar in Group D of the AFC Champions League (ACL) on Tuesday evening and moved top of Group D.
Sepahan defeated Qatari outfit 4-0 at Isfahan City’s Foolad Shar Stadium.
Mehdi Sharifi netted twice in Sepahan’s dramatic win. He scored one minute after the interval and doubled the lead in the 55th minute.
Substitute Xhevahir Sukaj was on target in the 63rd minute. And the lead became four goals on the 92nd minute after Al Sadd defender Ibrahim Majed scored an own goal.
“We earned three important points. We were going to finish the match with two goals and I am happy we scored four goals. From now, we are thinking about Al Hilal,” Sepahan coach Zlatko Kranjcar said in the post match news conference.
Meantime, Emirati side Al Ahli and Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia shared the points in Dubai.
Sepahan and Al Ahli lead the group on seven points, one clear of Al Hilal and two ahead of Al Sadd.
