President of Slovenia’s National Assembly is scheduled to pay an official visit to Iran in the near future to explore avenues for the further enhancement of bilateral and economic ties between Ljubljana and Tehran.
Heading a high-ranking political, economic, trade and parliamentary delegation, Janko Veber will arrive in Tehran on Saturday at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani.

The 30-strong economic delegation accompanying Veber during his three-day visit to Iran will reportedly comprise the representatives of Slovenian companies involved in energy, banking, electricity, telecommunications and agriculture sectors, and will be headed by president and general manager of the country’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Samo Hribar Milic.

Iran-Slovenia Trade Day will also be honored during the Slovenian delegation’s visit to Tehran. Senior governmental officials as well as business figures from both countries will participate in the event in order to investigate diverse areas of mutual trade and investment between Iran and Slovenia.

Veber’s visit will be the first of a high-ranking Slovenian official to Iran in the past two decades.

In a meeting with Veber in Ljubljana on April 28, Iranian Ambassador to Slovenia Morteza Darzi Raamandi hailed the positive relations between the two countries in various parliamentary, political, economic and cultural areas.

Slovenian owners of industries and businessmen are willing to bolster their economic and commercial cooperation with Iran, said Raamandi, calling on the European country’s National Assembly to prepare the legal grounds to facilitate the expansion of such relations.

Verber, for his part, underlined the Islamic Republic’s important position and capabilities, saying the Slovenian National Assembly is ready to pave the way for the further expansion of relations with Iran in various areas.
