Hans Blix supports Iran?s right to enrich uranium

15 May 2014 - 12:41

Tehran, May 15, IRNA – Former Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Hans Blix said that Iran is implementing Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and has no problem for enrichment, adding that he supports Iran’s stance in this concern.

In an interview with IRIB Channel 2 on Wednesday evening, Blix said that the issue of enrichment right in the article 4 of NPT is a legal dispute which should be settled.

He added that many of member countries of NPT such as Japan and Brazil are enriching uranium and South Korea has 20 nuclear power plants.

Blix said, ?In my opinio, legal interpretations in this case would reach any result, and enrichment in the low level has no problem, but negotiation in this concern is difficult.?

Concerning US dual behavior on Tel Aviv nuclear installations, Blix said that although the USA is angry with Israel, but it does not want or cannot do anything in this concern.

The former IAEA director general said that the world is not pleased with Israel nuclear arsenal and everybody is trying to persuade them to get rid of these nuclear warheads.

He added that Iran and Egypt had proposed the Middle East region free of nuclear weapons, but Israel has prevented the idea, so far.

Former Sweden foreign minister talked about Stuxnet malware against Iran’s nuclear program, adding that using the malware to disrupt function of centrifuges, is a new method in cyber war which is being tried in the USA and other places.

He added this is a threat for the whole world. All governments should confront with it and should cooperate in this concern.

About ways to end nuclear apartheid, Blix said that problems cannot be solved quickly, and the atmosphere has been poisonous in recent years, but it has been changed and we are in the right track now.

Concerning assasination of Iranian scientists, Blix said that the world community must condemn such crimes.

About US attack against Iraq, Blix said that the White House was deceived by wrong information.

US intended to support Israel, but by this invasion no support was done.

To justify the mistake, they said they intend to create a democracy pattern in the Middle East, which, in fact, has had no result so far except insecurity.

He continued that this kind of democracy is called forced democracy, which has had no success yet; they tried it in Libya, but it was a failure.

Blix said they intended to rage a war in Syria, but no one supported them, so they were forced to reach an agreement with Syria to demolish chemical weapons.

He concluded that the attack to Iraq did not conform to the UN Charter, because the Charter says you can engage in a war with an enemy when you are forced to defend yourself.
